This is a joke Dr. Seuss made during world war II, referring to the cold Russian winter. Although this was a joke, the Russian winter was not. It helped the Soviets win the battle because it was so cold, the Germans didn't prepare well enough. The fact is, the Germans were told that the Soviets would be easy to defeat, and it would be a ''piece of cake.'' Those are not Hitler's exact words, but that is basically what he said to his men before they all went to invade and were eventually driven out. The Russians did not just have the advantage in being well prepared for the winter, but were always being encouraged by the Russian citizens.
